About Mewar University of India
Mewar University India is the only private and self-financed University in Rajasthan State of India, which is approved by the UGC u/s 12B and also NAAC accredited. The University was set up by the Government of Rajasthan through Act. No. 4 of 2009 passed by the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly (Government of Rajasthan, India). The University is recognized by the UGC u/s 2(f) of UGC Act with powers to confer degrees u/s 22(1) of the UGC Act, 1956 vide their letter no. F.9-15/2009(CPP-I) dated 30th March, 2009. Mewar University India was set up as a Not-for-Profit Organization functioning in the highly backward and under developed region of India & Overseas. Boasting of a glorious past in culture, religion, valor and patriotism, this region was pushed into obscurity for decades and was steeped in poverty. The people of the region are known for their simplicity, skill in traditional arts and disciplined life. The youth of the region had, however, limited access to higher education.
The vision of the university is to spread education and make the fruits of higher and technical education to the deprived youth of the region. Initial attempt was a humble beginning by setting up a Women’s College imparting higher and vocational oriented education. Higher and Professional Education in this tradition bound and backward society had been a casualty for long years although historically the region preserved high respect for its women. The Women’s College has grown over the years to be recognized as a centre of excellence now. A large number of women from poorer and deprived section have highly benefited joining the college and have been able to earn decent livelihood after completing their education. MES has all along strived to provide free education or education at a highly subsidized rate for the economically weaker section of the society. Various Vocational courses have also made these students to join back their families helping them with significant support through their earning from small enterprises.
Mewar University India was the mega effort with an attempt in much bigger scale to set up a huge academic centre for imparting higher and technical education for the youths of the region & later invited to offer its facilities to international students also .
